"And Cain says to him the like of Pharaoh's words. Zufar says: 'You are the one who killed your brother Abel by the order of Iblis, then you regretted his killing and shame clung to you because of that. God the Mighty and Sublime sent down in His Book what appeared from you where He says: {And his soul permitted to him the murder of his brother, so he killed him and became among the losers. ❁ Then God sent a crow searching in the ground to show him how to hide the disgrace of his brother. He said, "O woe to me! Have I failed to be like this crow and hide the disgrace of my brother?" And he became of the regretful}.1 Not one of you but has regretted what he did and sought to be relieved of what he performed; but I am not like you.'
"Then he turns to Iblis and says to him: 'Do you boast against me of expelling Adam from Paradise and that you did not prostrate?' And he says to Cain: 'And you boast against me of your opposition to your father and your killing of your brother Abel?' And he says to Pharaoh: 'And you boast against me of your saying "I am your most exalted lord"? Yet you all turned back from all of that and all of you are confessing.'
"But I, since the Messenger of God—exalted be his glory—was taken, and before that in the destruction of Muhammad, his household, and his nation, I have not regretted that. I swore to Muhammad falsely, and I swore to my companion just as I swore. Then we swore time after time, and we strove after our swearing to kill him but were unable to do so. We all left a testament, each one of us at death, regarding what we were upon. I did not regret at the time of death, and I witnessed the horrors, as did my companion. I and you are not equal, though we are all shared in the punishment."
