(497) Regarding this, our Master al-Sadiq—exalted be his glory—said: "The Black [servant], like his color, is the blamed slave regarding whom the Lord Mim—exalted be his glory—said: 'Hang your whip where your slave can see it.'"
(498) Our Master Amir Almuminin—exalted be his glory—was asked regarding the black servant whose description is as previously mentioned, and he said: "He shall not find nobility." It was said to him: "O our Master, what if he recognizes [the truth]?" He replied: "It shall be a proof against him, not for him."
(499) This is supported by what we mentioned regarding the Chain whose length is seventy cubits, which Jabir ibn Yazid al-Ju’fi—peace be upon him—related. He said: our Master al-Baqir—exalted be his glory—said [quoting]: {Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits thrust him}1. He said: "He passes through seventy kinds of punishment in the frames (al-qawalib), each frame being seventy shirts."
(500) al-Adawi related from Hammad from our Master al-Sadiq—exalted be his glory—that he said upon seeing a dung-beetle dragging its dung: "This is sufficient humiliation for the disbeliever."
(501) Among what we added to this explanation is what Abu al-Hasan Ra’iq ibn al-Khidr al-Ghassani—may God have mercy on him—narrated to me by his chain from Abd al-Wahid al-Amiri from Abu al-Hasan ibn Mas’ada and Muhammad ibn Mansur, who said: Ubayd Allah ibn Dahir narrated to us from Muhammad ibn Fadl ibn Ali from Abu Hamza from ibn Kathir al-Khuza’i from his father from our Master Abu Ja’far Muhammad ibn Ali al-Baqir—exalted be his glory—that he said: "When the Day of Resurrection occurs, God brings four persons, one of whom is Iblis. He orders him to be bridled with a bridle of fire and tied to one of the pillars of Hell. Then Pharaoh is brought and He orders him to be bridled with a bridle of fire and tied to one of the pillars of Hell.
