Therefore, God the Almighty said: {Gather those who committed wrong and their spouses and what they used to worship ❁ Other than God, and guide them to the path of Hell. ❁ And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned}1. The "spouses" are the peers and likenesses in word and deed.
As for the words of the Exalted to Iblis: {Were you arrogant then, or were you [already] among the High Ones?}2. It was related in the outward regarding the "High Ones" that they are the Cherubic Angels, the Bearers of the Throne, Michael, Seraphiel, Azrael, and Dardayel—that they were those who did not prostrate to Adam and were the "High Ones."
That which all the Shia—of the Mufawwida and others—related: that our five Masters—exalted be their glory—were phantoms upon the Throne before the creation of Adam—exalted be his glory. [Adam] looked at the canopy of the Throne and saw five phantoms. He said: "Yes, O Lord, have You created anyone among humanity before me?"
He said: "No, O Adam." He said: "Then who are these?" He said: "They are My Names; I split them from My light. Had it not been for them, I would not have created you, nor created Paradise, nor Fire, nor heaven, nor earth."
Adam then said: "By their right upon You, will You not make them known to me?" He replied: "O Adam, I am the Praiseworthy (al-Mahmud) and this is Muhammad; I am the High (al-Ali) and this is Ali3; I am the Creator (al-Fatir) and this is Fatima; and I am the Beneficent (al-Muhsin) and these two are al-Hasan and al-Husayn. I have sworn by My might and majesty: no one shall come to Me with an atom's weight of love for them but that I shall enter him into My Paradise, and no one shall come to Me with an atom's weight of enmity toward them but that I shall enter him into My Fire.
