The shaving of the head is the completion of purity, according to the words of the Almighty: {Certainly has God showed to His Messenger the vision in truth. You will surely enter the Sacred Mosque, if God wills, in safety, with your heads shaved and [hair] shortened, not fearing [anyone]. He knew what you did not know and has made besides that a near conquest}1. He intends by this that the believer must be pure, not dominated by the "men who have been made foot-soldiers" (arjaloo) regarding recognition; rather, he should be high above them in vision and speech. His saying "nor standing at Arafat": its meaning is that he stands upon the recognition of God the Almighty and does not depart from it, nor is he turned by opinions or toyed with by desires. Rather, he should be as God the Almighty said: {Indeed, those who have said, "Our Lord is God" and then remained on a right course—the angels will descend upon them, [saying], "Do not fear and do not grieve but receive the good tidings of Paradise, which you were promised"}2. If he is upright as we mentioned, the angels who were granted mastery of the science of Truth will descend upon him. Striving (al-sa‘y): it is to strive in the quest for recognition of God the Almighty toward the people of science, then to strive in fulfilling their needs.

(486) As the Messenger — exalted be his glory — said: "God does not cease to be in the aid of the believer so long as the believer is in the aid of his brother."

Nor the watering with water, nor the touching of the parts.

The meaning of the Watering (al-siqaya) is that the Knower gives drink to whoever recognizes him for the sake of God the Almighty. Inwardly, it is to provide of the water of recognition — if you are a scholar — to one who has less knowledge than you and to quench his thirst. The meaning of the Touching of the Stone: its kissing; which is that God desires from His servant the recognition of the inward reality of the Stone and the acceptance of it.
