Meaning: the five are the Roots, and the personages following them are the Guidance and the Path, as we mentioned; so do not neglect their recognition and its fulfillment outwardly and inwardly.
Just as the Zakat is the Gate, whose root is Gabriel.
This is clear in the Book of God where the Sublime says: {And establish prayer and give zakat and bow with those who bow}1. The Prayer is the Name; He said: "Recognize her." The Zakat is the Gate; He said: "Recognize him." Know that he is not separate from the Name, and that recognition of him is not complete except through recognition of his Gate. If one establishes the prayer and pays the zakat inwardly and outwardly, he is a true believer.
Salman, there is none other than he, as a guide to the Messenger.
Because even if he arrived from the lands of Persia and appeared to be a non-Arab, none other than he is the Gate, and there is no guide to the Messenger other than him. Even if he appeared separate from him, he is in reality connected to him and indicative of him.
(481) As it was related from Abu Hamza — peace be upon him — that he said to our Master Ali ibn al-Husayn — exalted be his glory: "O my Master, favor me with the recognition of these five Gates." He replied: "O Abu Hamza, they are five in number in the state of manifestations, but in reality they are one: Salman. Even if his names and attributes change, he is a single Gate."
And the Name guides to God his Lord and grants attainment.
The Name is Lord Muhammad — exalted be his glory — and he is the one who guides to God the Meaning, his Lord besides whom there is no worshipped one. (482) It was related from al-Mufaddal ibn Umar — peace be upon him — that he was asked regarding the words of God the Mighty and Sublime: {And they were not commanded except to worship God, being sincere to Him in religion, inclining to truth, and to establish prayer and give zakat. And that is the correct religion}2.
