(480) Our Master al-Sadiq — exalted be his glory — was asked: "Which is superior: al-Hasan or al-Husayn?" He — exalted be his glory — replied: "Both are one in merit, except that al-Hasan was an Imam to al-Husayn, while al-Husayn was not an Imam to al-Hasan." It is from the beginning of what we mentioned regarding the manifestation in his likeness. al-Hasan is the Compassionate (al-Rahman), and al-Husayn is the Merciful (al-Rahim). For this reason, He said: "They are two gentle names, one gentler than the other." Thus it was named the Sunset (al-Maghrib), because the Name set (gharaba) within it, and the Meaning caused him to vanish and appeared in the likeness of the Hasanide form when He willed to appear to the world in other than the Anza'ite [Bald/Vast Knowledge] form.
The Dusk (al-Atama): the personage of Lord al-Husayn — exalted be his glory. It was named the Dusk because the inverted creation became "blinded" (atamoo) to him; it is derived from darkness (al-zulma). Their claim that our Master al-Husayn was killed by Umar ibn Sa'd — God is far above that, exalted with a great height.
The personage of the Dawn is Lord al-Muhsin — exalted be his glory. He is the "Hidden Grace" from the eyes of the deniers, whom we were commanded to seek as a means to God in hardships, saying: [O God, we seek a means to You through Your hidden grace which appeared from You only to You]. He shortened his personages and made them two units for his manifestation to the world of purity and his concealment from the world of ignorance and blindness. These five personages are the times of the five obligatory prayers whose recognition is mandatory. If you recognize the full fifty-one personages we mentioned and act upon them outwardly and inwardly, that is the greatest good you prepare for yourself; if you fall short, you have no leeway in neglecting the recognition of the five personages and the performance of their obligations outwardly and inwardly — so know that.
All are with them and from them, they are the Guidance and the Path.
