Their names in the time of our Master al-Sadiq — exalted be his glory: [Abd Allah ibn Mu'awiya ibn Ja'far al-Tayyar, Muhammad ibn Sadaqa al-Anbari, Muhammad ibn Sinan al-Zahiri, his brother Abd Allah, Abu Khadija Salim ibn Mukram al-Absi, Abu Samina Muhammad ibn Ali, Abu Sukayna al-Mufaddal ibn Salih, Muhammad ibn al-Nu'man (Mu'min al-Taq), Mahan al-Abili, Hisham ibn al-Hakam, Hisham ibn Hisham, and Abu al-Tufayl Amir ibn Wathila — prayers of God be upon them all].

Likewise the names of the Nujaba: we have mentioned their names in the era of Lord Muhammad — exalted be his glory — so we need not repeat them here. This rank numbers twenty-eight persons, neither increasing nor decreasing by one person.

It was related that they are the personages of the twenty-eight Mansions of the Moon, namely: [al-Sharatayn, al-Butayn, al-Thurayya, al-Dabaran, al-Haq'a, al-Han'a, al-Dhira', al-Nathra, al-Tarfa, al-Jabha, al-Zubra, al-Sarfa, al-Awa, al-Simak, al-Ghafr, al-Zubanayan, al-Iklil, al-Qalb, al-Shawla, al-Na'a’im, al-Balda, Sa’d al-Dhabih, Sa’d Bul'a, Sa’d al-Su'ud, Sa’d al-Akhbiya, al-Far' al-Muqaddam, al-Far' al-Mu'akhkhar, Batn al-Hut, and Abd Allah ibn Saba, the completion of their number because he is the personage of the twenty-eighth]. However, he became the first of this rank after having been the last, and he is the best of them. His matter in precedence over all of them proceeded as did the matter of al-Miqdad — and what was related of him regarding the prostration and his standing, and that he was the last of the twenty-eight letters then became the first, with the letters after him being joined to him. Likewise Abd Allah ibn Saba deserved by his call and what he manifested of what occurred to him in the manifestations that he became the first of this station and they are after him. Thus we related it by a chain from the reliable sheikh Abu al-Husayn Muhammad ibn Ali al-Jali — upon him be the pleasure of the Majestic King — and we omitted the chains to avoid length.
