(476) It was related from the Masters — exalted be their glory — regarding our saying "Anza'" [the Bald/The One who has pulled away]: that He "pulled away (naz'a) this form from the world; none but He was clothed in it, and none but He appeared through it." For even if we saw Him in the Exemplary Manifestations appearing in other than it — in the likeness of the form of the Veil — the cause is in us due to the Intermingling (al-mizaj) we possess. Indeed, the High World sees Him only as the manifest Anza' Batin [The Bald one of Vast Knowledge], and He is the Manifest Truth.
A group said: "Ishaq was only called 'the Red' because he ate a pomegranate and wiped his face, so the redness of the pomegranate from his hands stuck to it." Can one whose action is this and whose attribute is what preceded be a "Gate of Knowledge"? He who claimed that has fabricated against God and strayed into a far-reaching error.
Among the faults of Ishaq al-Ahmar as well: his epistles and notebooks which he composed say: "So-and-so the worshiper and ascetic narrated to me from So-and-so who prays," thus purifying the men to whom he attributes his positions. Then he relates from al-Sadiq, yet the bewildered fool does not know that our Master al-Sadiq — exalted be his glory — was in his own age and with him, he saw him and witnessed him; he never vanished from him, and he is our Master al-Hasan [al-Askari] — exalted be his glory. But in this, he [Ishaq] falls into one of two categories: either our Master al-Hasan did not see him as worthy of knowledge and thus did not impart it to him, or Ishaq did not believe in our Master al-Hasan — exalted be his glory — and thus related nothing from him. May God not change the blessing we possess and keep us firm upon it by His favor and generosity.
