(472) The Messenger of God — exalted be his glory — said: "Leprosy and elephantiasis are two dogs of God upon His earth; God does not set them upon a servant for whom He has a need."
Among his vast disbelief and polytheism against God the High, the Great, is his saying: "The Alawites are the children of al-Azwar ibn Qays al-Attari," and that our Master Amir Almuminin — God is far above the words of the fabricators — said to him: "O Azwar, shall I not clothe you in a shirt the like of which I have clothed no one before you nor shall clothe anyone after you?" He took him by his arm, thrust him into the air, and then brought him back. [Ishaq claims] none who witnessed him then doubted that he was Amir Almuminin. We say to the author of this slander, disbelief, and doubt: Is our Mistress Fatima — may she be exalted and sublimed above this expression — among the number of women whom al-Azwar treads upon? If he says: "He established personages for the women as he established a personage for himself."
We say to him: al-Azwar, by your claim, is the personage of Amir Almuminin; then who is the personage of Fatima? He will find no way to answer that. Our Master Amir Almuminin — to whose mention belongs magnification — says: "May God curse the cuckold (dayyuth)." It was asked of him: "Who is the cuckold?" He replied: "The one who allows men into his family." God is far above the words of the people of misguidance.
What a group among the "People of Elevation" (Ahl al-Irtifa') related: "The women used to see in their dreams that they were being trodden upon, just as a man sees in his dream."
The guided "People of Reality" said: Rather, they are the Children of the Will (awlad al-mashi'a). The Creator willed that they be His children and His spouses in the outward appearance, while they are the Veils of His lights.
