Yahya said: I came to the Orphan of the Time, Muhammad ibn Jundub—peace be upon him—and informed him of what occurred of the speech of Lord Abu Shu’ayb—peace be upon him—and what I heard of his words to those present. Muhammad ibn Jundub—peace be upon him—said: "He is Muhammad al-Hamd, and upon him the gaze fell in the Sixth Station when he was manifest as Abu al-Khattab—peace be upon him—until Muhammad al-Hamd said: 'I used to be called in the Hashemite Cycle Muhammad ibn Abi Kabsha, and I am now called Muhammad ibn Abi Zaynab, and I shall be called Muhammad ibn Nusayr.' As for his saying 'There is no quest for a seeker beyond me (wara’i)'—he intended by 'beyond' that which is 'before' (quddam); meaning: there is nothing before him other than the manifestation of our Master the Vengeur, the Proof, the Awaited. Had they recognized him with the truth of his recognition, they would have had no need to await Him."

(464) Abu al-Qasim Ali ibn Ahmad al-Tabarani—may God be pleased with them—narrated to me by his chain from his men from Ishaq al-Ahmar: He entered upon our Master al-Hasan the Latter, al-Askari—exalted be his glory—while in His presence was Abu Shu’ayb Muhammad ibn Nusayr—peace be upon him. Our Master said, as Ishaq stood before Him and he [the Imam] pointed with his hand toward our Lord Abu Shu’ayb:

The knowledge of the Highway is clear to its seeker, yet I see the hearts regarding the Highway in blindness.

I have marveled at one perishing while his salvation is present, and I have marveled at the one who was saved.
