He said to me: "Receive glad tidings, O Abd Allah, for when Allah the Exalted loves a servant, He disciplines him. Know, O Abd Allah, that the title of faith is the sincerity of affection for the brothers. If you know something of our matter, do not withhold it from a loyalist (wali) of ours, lest you wrong him." Then he recited the words of the Mighty and Majestic: {But as for the favor of your Lord, report [it]} (Al-Duha: 11), and he, may His might be glorified, said: "Report it to those who deserve it."

(45) It is narrated from the Messenger, may His might be glorified, that he said: "A man or a brother has not offered his brother a gift better than a word of wisdom, by which he increases his guidance and blocks him from ruin."

(46) It has been narrated that the Muslim is he who encountered "Peace" (al-Salam) on the Day of Shadows (Yawm al-Azillah). Therefore, our Master Amir Almuminin, may His might be glorified, said: "One will not believe in his today except he who believed in his yesterday." Just as He, Glory be to Him, said: {The day that some of the signs of your Lord will come no soul will benefit from its faith as long as it had not believed before or had earned through its faith some good} (Al-An'am: 158); and the "good" is Gnosis.

(47) His saying, may His might be glorified, in a sermon: "Lo! The successful is he who succeeded in the First Proliferation (al-Nashr al-Awwal) through swiftness of acceptance and responded with affirmation. The perished is he who perished through denial and delusion; they lost their souls and strayed from the path of their guidance."

(48) It is narrated from Ja'far ibn Muhammad ibn al-Mufaddal, from his grandfather al-Mufaddal ibn Umar, peace be upon them, that he said: "Charity prevents an evil death. Charity is: the sharing of knowledge among the believers, from the one high in Gnosis to the one below him in Gnosis. And the 'evil death' is: disbelief in Allah."
