Their co-existence proceeded likewise in the sixth Ja'farite station: the Gate was Jabir ibn Yazid al-Ju'fi, the Deal was Abu al-Khattab Muhammad ibn Ismail, and the Qualified one was al-Mufaddal ibn Umar. When the Name manifested through Jabir ibn Yazid al-Ju'fi, the Deal (Abu al-Khattab) became a Gate, and the Qualified one (al-Mufaddal ibn Umar) became a Deal. When Jabir vanished, the Name manifested through Abu al-Khattab, who then manifested the Call and proclaimed the divinity of our Master Ja'far—exalted be his glory; the Gate then was al-Mufaddal, and the Deal was his son Muhammad—so know that. If someone asks: "What do you say regarding the words of Abu al-Ghusn Jahy to the seeker: 'Yes, He is He, and Abu al-Khattab is His Gate'?"

We say: He—peace be upon him—spoke the truth in his saying. There are two answers in this: First, that Jabir had not yet vanished, so the Gate was Abu al-Khattab. The second answer: if at the time the seeker arrived Jabir had already vanished and the Name had manifested through Abu al-Khattab, then he spoke the truth in saying the Name is a Gate for the Meaning, for he is the Gater of Gates and the Cause of causes. Thus his statement is correct in both aspects and the answer is clear.

(428) By his chain reaching Furat ibn Ahnaf—peace be upon him—who said: I heard our Master al-Sadiq—exalted be his glory—when a questioner asked him regarding Abu al-Khattab—peace be upon him. He said: "I have sworn that I shall not accept the Oneness of any among the people except through the walaya of Salman and the recognition of the core of Gabriel—who is Salsal, the Gate of God and His Veil." He then said: "I am the Garden of Eternity (Jannat al-Khuld), Salman is the Garden of Eden (Jannat Adn), and Abu al-Khattab is the Garden of Refuge (Jannat al-Ma’wa)."

(429) From Abu Khadija Salim ibn Mukram—peace be upon him—who said: "Abu al-Khattab was seen between the heaven and the earth, with the angels behind him pointing to him and saying: 'This is the Inviter of God, so answer him, O assembly of people!'"
