By his chain, he said: I asked him regarding the word of God to Moses—exalted be his glory: {And [recall] when Moses prayed for water for his people, so We said, "Strike the stone with your staff," and there gushed forth from it twelve springs. Every people knew its watering place. "Eat and drink from the provision of God, and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption."}.
He replied: Moses is the Mim—exalted be his glory—and the Staff is the Gate, and the Stone is al-Miqdad, and the twelve springs are the twelve Nakibs; {Every people knew its watering place}.
What we must mention regarding the co-existence of the Gates in the first Muhammadan station and the sixth Ja'farite station:
As for the first station: Salman, Safina, and Rashid al-Hajiri were contemporaries. Likewise in the sixth Ja'farite station: Jabir ibn Yazid al-Ju'fi, Abu al-Khattab Muhammad, and al-Mufaddal ibn Umar were contemporaries. For this reason, it is said: "A Gate, a Deal, and a Qualified one." The like of this was not witnessed in the manifestations of the Gates except in the Muhammadan Cycle specifically.
That is as we previously mentioned regarding the manifestations of Intermingling, which is the manifestation of the Veil through the Gate in eleven [Risings] from Lord Salman to Lord Abu Shu’ayb Muhammad ibn Nusayr—peace be upon him. Because when the Name honored his Luminous Gate by manifesting through him for the intermingling, some of the lights of the Mim's body intermingled with the soul of the Sin (the soul of the Sin having been created from the body of the Mim). Thus these two lights intermingled within him because the Muhammadan body and the soul of Salman are of one mine. Therefore, he [Salman] had to be added to the sum of the names of the Mim and written in their count. The Gate was Salman, the Deal was Safina, and the Qualified one was Rashid. When the Name manifested through Salman, the Deal (Safina) became a Gate, and Rashid the Qualified one became a Deal.
