Among these is that our Lord Salman—peace be upon him—manifested in the Muhammadan Cycle two persons who were the Gate and the Deal (al-Safaq). The Gate was Salman and the Deal was Safina, who is to them the "Qualified one" (al-Mu’ahhil).
When Lord Mim manifested the appearance through Salman, Salman manifested through Safina, and the Deal was Rashid al-Hajiri. This was the co-existence of the Gates here: the Mim was Salman, the Gate was Safina, and the Deal was Rashid. Likewise in the time of our Master al-Sadiq—exalted be his glory: the Mim was manifest through Jabir ibn Yazid al-Ju'fi, the Gate through Abu al-Khattab Muhammad ibn Abi Zaynab, and the Deal was al-Mufaddal ibn Umar. This co-existence of Gates occurred only in these two Risings; there is no such occurrence in the sequence before this or until the end of the Gates' Risings.
(423) We return to the completion of the knowledge of the sequence in the Manifestation of Intermingling (al-Mizaj). Among the best that has appeared regarding this is what our sheikh Lord Abu Abd Allah al-Khasibi—may God ennoble his station—related by his chain from the Sage—exalted be his glory—who said: "It is for God to manifest through the Gate, but it is not for the Gate to manifest through God. God is a Name, and he is the Lord Mim; it is for Lord Muhammad to manifest through Salman, but it is not for Salman to manifest through Muhammad."
(424) And his saying—exalted be his glory—likewise: "The Name has the right to manifest through the Gate, but the Gate has no right to manifest through the Name, because he is beneath him and the Name is his originator."
Know the jurisprudence of this: when Muhammad manifested through Salman, Salman manifested through Safina; and when the Mim manifested through Safina, Salman manifested through Rashid; and when the Mim manifested through Rashid, the Gate manifested through Abu Khalid Abd Allah ibn Ghalib al-Kabili; and when the Name manifested through Abu Khalid, the Gate manifested through Yahya ibn Umm al-Tawil al-Thumali;
