The clarification of that: the increase of the second light upon the first light. Although the increase is a connected substance, at the moment of intermingling, an increase from the higher light occurs within the lower light which it could not perceive except through the intermingling occurring at its time. "The union of the lower light with the higher light necessitates for it the honoring and the elevation of the rank from what it was."
It may be said of Salman at that time of intermingling that he is "God," because intermingling is union. If that occurs, Salman is in this rank. In this position, he is God due to the manifestation of the Name through him. The judgment at all times belongs to the one manifest in that through which he manifests. It is not permissible to call Salman "God" except at the manifestation of the Name through him, for when the Name manifests through him, the form of Gatehood is erased and the honor of Nameness manifests upon him. Whoever says that the Mim is Abu Shu’ayb in his entirety has disbelieved.
Among what our sheikh Lord al-Khasibi—may God ennoble his station—and his son the saint Abu al-Husayn Muhammad ibn Ali al-Jali—may God sanctify his soul—related in a section of the epistle The Inward of Prayer is what we extracted concerning our saying in the bowing (al-ruku'): "Glory be to my Great Lord and by His praise." Regarding its inward interpretation, he said: "Glory (Subhan)" is a name among the names of the Name—exalted be his glory. Its witness from the Book is the words of the Almighty: {Glory be to your Lord, the Lord of Might, above what they describe. And peace be upon the messengers. And praise be to God, Lord of the worlds}1.
"Glory" is the Name, and "Lord of Might" is the Prince of Bees. "Might" refers to Fatir and Muhammad, and they both are God, Lord of the worlds; they are His names and His veils. The meaning of His word: {Glory be to Him who took His servant by night from the Sacred Mosque to the Farthest Mosque, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him of Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing}2—the servant taken by night is Salsal, and the one who took him is Lord Mim.
