My statement was previously given in a section more extensive and eloquent than this, and I followed it with this statement in this place as a summary. I do not say that the body of the Mim is human; rather, it is elemental and transparent, created from the light of the Light of God. The people of purity see it, each according to his rank and the height of his status; and the people of turbidity see it as a body like [other] bodies and a frame like [other] frames—that is an argument against them and an increase in their turbidity. The soul of the Lord Mim, which inhabits this luminous body produced from the light of the Light of God, appeared from the Light of the Essence and to it returns. It was separated from the Light of the Essence for the stillness of movements; it is neither created nor a creator—ancient in our view, yet originated toward its Creator.

Just as my statement previously appeared in the epistle The Splitting and the Massing: "The Name is ancient by the Light, originated by the Manifestation." This is followed by a lengthy explanation from which we have summarized this section that we needed to mention here.

In the same sense is what Abu al-Hasan ibn Surur al-Hayyaji narrated to me, saying: Sheikh Abu Sa'id Maymun ibn al-Qasim al-Tabarani—may God sanctify his soul—narrated to me, saying: I asked my Master the reliable sheikh Abu al-Husayn Muhammad ibn Ali al-Jali—upon him be the prayers of the High King—regarding the explanation of the Manifestation of Intermingling (al-Mizaj) and its summary?

He said: Know—may God teach you goodness—that our view, the law of our group, and the path of our salvation, as stated by our sheikh Lord Abu Abd Allah—may God exalt his station—is that Lord al-Hasan—exalted be his glory—at the time of the occultation was the High, the One, the Pre-eternal, the Solid. The Name was the Lord Vengeur, the Awaited and Hoped-for—exalted be his glory. The Gate—peace be upon him—vanished with the occultation of Lord al-Hasan al-Askari. Thus the Name was manifest through two persons: Lord Muhammad ibn al-Hasan and Lord Abu Shu’ayb Muhammad ibn Nusayr.
