Al-Hasan ibn Qaran said to him: "O my Master, as for the Will, we have learned of it from Abu al-Tahiyyat [Umar ibn al-Furat]; but what did You mean by Your saying—and it is the Truth: 'its first Salman and its second Salman'?" Our Master—exalted be his glory—said: "Indeed Salman, though he witnessed the former nations and the passing ages, he has witnessed in the Hashemite Cycle four of the Imams: the first of them their Master our Master Amir Almuminin, then al-Hasan, then al-Husayn, and the Hidden Person—who is the Vengeur Mahdi (al-Qa’im al-Mahdi)—exactly, step by step." Mukram ibn Umar al-Kannasi asked him: "And did Salman witness Muhammad as well?" He replied—exalted be his glory: "I told you 'in the line of Imamate' and I did not say to you 'in the line of Messengership'." Then He struck his hand upon the shoulder of my lord Abu al-Tahiyyat Umar ibn al-Furat and said: "This one stands among you in the place of Muhammad whom Salman witnessed, and Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn Nusayr has witnessed him."
Then we stayed our day with our Master Abu Ja'far—exalted be his glory—while my lord was near him, conversing with them and addressing them. Then he departed at the end of the day to the house of my lord Abu al-Tahiyyat. Abu Ja'far al-Numayri remained with my lord for three months, and our Master manifested the Occultation in the year two hundred and twenty.
Our Master al-Askari brought to us his son Muhammad—exalted be his glory—when he was seven years old according to what people saw and witnessed with their veiled eyes and thought with their blind intellects. He ascended to Samarra (Sirra Man Ra’a) and my lord Abu Shu’ayb ascended with him. When it was six months after our Master Ali the Tenth—exalted be his glory—spoke, my lord Abu al-Tahiyyat manifested the occultation. The world became narrow for me, and I found no relief for what was with me except my lord Abu Shu’ayb Muhammad ibn Nusayr. So I ascended to him and stayed close to him; he was benevolent toward me and a companion to me—peace be upon him.
