When the speaking Master—exalted be his glory—manifested as Musa al-Kazim, the Gate was the Father of Purity al-Mufaddal ibn Umar al-Ju'fi—peace be upon him—for the speaking Master Musa and for our silent Master Ali al-Rida, who is the Magnificent House—exalted be his glory. When our speaking Master—exalted be his glory—manifested as Ali ibn Musa, the Gate was Abu al-Sahl Muhammad ibn al-Mufaddal ibn Umar al-Ju'fi for the speaking Master Ali al-Rida and for our silent Master Muhammad ibn Ali, who is the Magnificent House. When the speaking Master—exalted be his glory—manifested as Muhammad ibn Ali, the Gate was the Father of Greetings Umar ibn al-Furat for the speaking Master Muhammad ibn Ali and for our silent Master Ali ibn Muhammad, who is the Magnificent House—exalted be his glory.

When the speaking Master manifested as Ali the Tenth—Exalted is our Lord, the High, the Powerful—the Gate was our Lord Abu Shu’ayb Muhammad ibn Nusayr ibn Bakr al-Abdi al-Numayri. The Master—exalted be his glory—only gave him the kunya Abu Shu’ayb because the Gate is a branch (shu'ba) of the House.

Stranger than this is what our Lord and sheikh Abu Abd Allah al-Husayn ibn Hamdan al-Khasibi—may God illuminate his subtle essence—related: "He was only given the kunya Abu Shu’ayb because within him branched the meanings of the Name and the Gate from the first station to the last. That is because he emigrated from Basra to Baghdad to the presence of our Master Abu Ja'far the Second, Muhammad ibn Ali—exalted be His praise—three months before His occultation; Exalted is He who never vanishes."

We shall cite the report of his emigration in another place following the conclusion of his reports by the aid and success of God. He was the Gate for our speaking Master Ali and for our silent Master al-Hasan, who is the Magnificent House.
