Though our sheikh al-Khasibi—may God ennoble his station—did not record this in his epistle, consensus has fallen upon it among the people of Elevation, and we do not reject it. Rather, we say: they—meaning Socrates and Adad—are among the personages and "deals" (safaqat) of Salman. For the Gate never separated from the House from the beginning of the manifestation until the end, except in the Hashemite Cycle, for he emigrated to him from the lands of Persia to the land of the Hijaz.
(393) For this reason, the Messenger of God—exalted be his glory—said: "Islam began as a stranger, and it shall return as it began; so glad tidings to the strangers."
This was an indication from him toward Lord Salman—peace be upon him—who is Islam. Salman began as a stranger and shall return as a stranger—likewise an indication toward Lord Abu Shu’ayb Muhammad ibn Nusayr ibn Bakr al-Numayri—peace be upon him—because he emigrated two emigrations: one from Kabul-Shah to Medina (he being Abu Khalid Abd Allah ibn Ghalib al-Kabili, peace be upon him) and he emigrated from Basra to Baghdad; we shall mention that in its place. Umar ibn al-Khattab used to say: "Islam is Salman." Rozaba—peace be upon him—had manifested the Call toward Lord Muhammad—exalted be his glory—and the affirmation of him in the lands of Persia during the time of the Persians. Signs of this appeared to his father and his family.
Among what is related of him: he entered the Fire-temple, and upon his entry, it chirped as a hen chirps; it was [also] related: as a partridge chirps. A voice cried out from within it: "What have we to do with you?" and it was extinguished. The Magi mentioned regarding it that it had stayed for three hundred years without being extinguished. His father and uncle saw him as an ill omen. Our Master Rozaba—peace be upon him—remained with the disciples of Jesus the Messiah—exalted be his glory—after his occultation, announcing the Call, bearing witness that there is no deity except God, affirming the Messengership of Jesus, and urging longing for Muhammad—exalted be his glory—until Muhammad appeared with Prophecy and Messengership. He then emigrated to him from the lands of Persia to the land of the Hijaz and reached Medina—which is Tayyiba in the land of Yathrib—before Lord Muhammad—exalted be his glory—reached it.
