When Lord Adam—exalted be his glory—manifested, he being the Magnificent House and the Honored Name, the Gate with him was our Master Gabriel—peace be upon him. He is the Luminous Angel, the possessor of Revelation and Sending, the one who descended with the Scrolls, the Torah, and the Gospel. He is the Trustworthy Spirit (al-Ruh al-Amin), the Envoy to all the messengers, and the destroyer of all the denier nations through sinking and exemplary punishment. He is the one who sent against them birds in flocks (Ababil), striking them with stones of hard clay and rendering them like eaten straw. Reward and punishment belong to him, and the distribution of provisions is in his hands. He is the organizer and establisher of the higher ranks; all of this was delegated to him by our Master as a favor upon him. The Gate remained, throughout the collection of Cycles, a manifest speaker with every House that God manifested upon His earth, guiding to the Name who is his Master, and calling toward the Pre-eternal Meaning—who is Abel, the High, the Most High, the Majestic.

Then our Master Abel vanished and manifested as Seth. Gabriel remained as he was, the Gate with our Master Seth—exalted be his glory—who is the High—exalted be his glory. Then he was with Enos, Cainan, Mahalalel, and Jared (Yazd), he being Gabriel—peace be upon him.

Then he manifested with Enoch (Idris)—exalted be his glory—as Yail ibn Fatin ibn Enos ibn Seth ibn Adam—peace be upon him. He manifested the lute (barbat)1, the "Servant of Light," all songs, the tanbur2, chess, and backgammon. The nation magnified what he brought of these things and found them strange, for he manifested to them such wisdom as they had never witnessed or known. They were enticed and came to Idris—exalted be his glory—saying: "O Prophet of God and His Messenger, many people have claimed Lordship for your companion Yail ibn Fatin because of the amusements and the 'Servant of Light' he has manifested to them, which has enticed them."
