It is indispensable that a text proceeds from the House (the Name) regarding its Gate, because for the people of Tawhid, the Gate has signs and conditions they have memorized and transmitted, by which the House points to its Gate and indicates him in its discourse. When the believer observes this, he enters through it to the House whose proofs are established for them and whose signs are true. They reach His knowledge from where He commanded them, crossing the obstacle against which He warned them.

The Meaning — exalted be his glory — said: {But he has not broken through the Obstacle. And what can make you know what the obstacle is? It is the freeing of a neck}1.

I asked my sheikh and lord Abu al-Fath — may God be pleased with him — regarding this obstacle? He said: "What I have heard regarding it from our Lord Abu Abd Allah al-Khasibi — may God ennoble his station — is that the Obstacle is the knowledge of the Gate. When the believer reaches it, he frees his neck from metamorphosis (al-musukhiyya)."

The first of the proofs we mentioned is the text from the House regarding its Gate. This is a constant tradition: every House must manifest a text for its Gate. It is the indication of the Master — majestic is His name — and the honor the Name bestowed upon him in the Hashemite Cycle by appearing through him in eleven stations of the line of Imamate, until the last, who is al-Hasan, the eleventh in Imamate. Then comes the "Cause" which is not found in any other of the masters of the ranks: the dazzling miracle, the language and the call from the Gate proclaiming the divinity of the Meaning — exalted be His grandeur — and the announcement of His Oneness, and other acts delegated to him that we need not mention here.
