(387) It is related from Muhammad ibn Sinan al-Zahiri — peace be upon him: I asked my Master al-Sadiq — exalted be his glory — regarding the description of the manifestations? He said: "The affirmation of Oneness (at-Tawhid). The dimension of the Meaning (al-Ma'nawiyya) belongs to Ali, and the Lordship belongs to Muhammad by his function as the Name. Salman is his Gate manifest through the Unicity of the Unique and the Seul. He created a creation which he called to the spiritual dimension of the Essence. Whoever believes in the Meaning is a believer, and whoever equals Him to His creation is a polytheist. This is the root of Tawhid."

(388) From our Master the Sage — exalted be his glory: "If God is the Unique (Ahad) who cannot be encompassed, then His Name is the Seul (Wahid) who cannot be encompassed, and His Gate is the Unicity (Wahdaniyya) which cannot be encompassed."

(389) It is related from Yunus ibn Zabyan — peace be upon him: Our Master al-Sadiq — exalted be his glory — said: "God has houses, and His houses have gates. Whoever enters those houses through their gates is guided, and whoever turns away from them strays and perishes."

It has already been said concerning the Meaning — exalted and sublimed — that He was when there was no place, no epoch, and no time. When He willed to manifest the Place, He invented the Nom from the light of His Essence. He is the Reason (al-'Aql) that the seeker perceives. He is the "Inhabited House" (al-Bayt al-Ma'mur) toward which one turns, aims, and seeks the Meaning to find Him. The Exalted inspired His Name, without an intermediary, to create for him a Gate, to choose him, specialize him, and elect him. He created him from the light of his own light (that of the Name), not from the light of the Essence. He made him the guide to Him, the path to Him, and the Gate through which there is no entry except through him. For it is not of wisdom, justice, mercy, or the Master's compassion toward the nation that there be a house without a gate, just as it is impossible for there to be a gate except for a house. This is the established and known custom among creation.
