The Meaning of Meanings and Cause of Causes—our Master Amir Almuminin, exalted be his glory—manifested and killed Amr and others. He stepped through the air, being the One powerful over what He wills; He descended from the air into the interior of the fortress—the fortress of Khaybar—uprooted the gate, and performed those famous deeds. Sa'd ibn Ubada said then: "This is a Lordly power, not the power of mortals."

Lord Messiah appeared in a time when the science of medicine was dominant among its people. He performed what dazzled them and what they were incapable of doing. The first to believe in him was Galen, who surrendered to him when his matter reached him; he emigrated to him from Rome but died in Homs before meeting him, and his report is lengthy.

(374) It is related from the prophet Habakkuk—exalted be his glory—that he said in his prophecy: "Indeed God comes from Yemen and the Holy Place from the mountains of Paran." God the Almighty said in the Torah: "God came from Mount Sinai, shone forth from Seir, and beamed from the mountains of Paran"—which are the mountains of Mecca, the village from which the Messiah manifested.

As for Mary daughter of Amram—exalted be her glory—she is Amina bint Wahb ibn Abd Manaf. Some said: she is Lord Fatir, according to the saying of the Messenger: "Fatir is the mother of her father"—this refers to the manifestation of the Has from her, who are His personages. The Iraqis said: "Mary is a couch of light." The ignorant claimed she was the wife of the Lord—Exalted is God far above what they say. God—the Sublime and Exalted—said: {Had We intended to take a diversion, We could have taken it from [what is] with Us, if [ever] We were to do so. Rather, We dash the truth upon falsehood, and it destroys it, and thereupon it departs. And woe to you for what you describe}1. Its meaning is: had I intended that, I would have married in the heaven.
