That is His word: {And when Moses asked for water for his people, We said, "Strike the stone with your staff," and there gushed forth from it twelve springs. Every people knew its watering place...}1. The springs that gushed are the "Springs of Grandeur"; they are the Veils of the Meaning and His stations. They are the three Has and the stations of the Imamate up to our Master the Proof, the Master of the Time—exalted be his glory.
(367) They are twelve as God the Almighty said and as our Lord the Messenger—exalted be his glory—said: "The first of us is Muhammad, the middle of us is Muhammad, the last of us is Muhammad, and all of us are Muhammad." And his saying—exalted be his glory: "Fatima is the mother of her father"—this is an indication of the manifestation of His personages from her.
Another aspect: His word: {Strike the stone with your staff}2. The Staff is the Gate and al-Miqdad; the twelve springs are the twelve Nakibs. And His word, the Mighty and Sublime: {And We shaded you with clouds and sent down to you manna and quails, [saying], "Eat from the good things with which We have provided you." And they wronged Us not, but they were wronging themselves}3. Manna: is that which God favored you with upon the tongue of your father who addresses you with the knowledge of God the Almighty.
And Quails (al-Salwa): its meaning is that you found consolation (salawta) through that from every other science. It is the provision mentioned by God the Almighty: {Eat from the good things with which We have provided you}4—meaning: the lawful (al-halal). The lawful is that you take your provisions from where God has made it permissible for you to take them, through His face and His paths. He forbade you from attributing yourself to Him without fatherhood, for that would be forbidden to you. {And do not follow the footsteps of Satan}—he is the science of the Second and his actions; do not follow them and avoid them.
