Our saying that He is its 'Originator' (Mukhtari') means that the Originator is like the Maker who made it—that is, He produced a work of craftsmanship like which no one had preceded Him. Exalted be our Lord and sanctified be His Name beyond having a likeness. Regarding this, Allah, Majestic and Exalted, says: {Originator of the heavens and the earth. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, 'Be,' and it is} (Al-Baqarah: 117). This is like the saying: 'Allah is a thing unlike other things; nothing among things resembles Him.'
And he is the Master Muhammad: all light, all face, all sight, all hearing, all knowledge, all power, all authority; for he is the locus of the attributes of Allah, His names, and His descriptions—such as our saying: the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing, the Powerful, the Severe, and similar attributes. And His saying: {So wherever you [might] turn, there is the Face of Allah} (Al-Baqarah: 115). He is the Reason regarding which there is consensus that the Creator, the Exalted, said to it: 'Come forward,' so it returned to Him and reached Him in union; and He said to it: 'Go back,' meaning: manifest absence and concealment. Thus, its 'going back' was a 'coming forward,' and its 'coming forward' was a 'going back.'
It has been narrated regarding this: 'Origination is the separation of the Form from the Shaper,' so that this may be known from that—this is a Lord and this is a servant; this is a 'Meaning-based' (Ma'nawiyyah) nature and this is a 'Name-based' (Ismiyyah) Muhammadan nature. That is the attribute of Divinity (Ilahiyyah) and this is the attribute of Lordship (Rububiyyah). This one, in its abundance, indicates that there is a goal above it, and that one is the Ultimate (Asla'), for He, the Exalted, is the Goal of every goal.
