The Meaning was manifest as Lamech, and he is an Exemplary Meaning—Exalted. The Gate was manifest as Yail ibn Fatin. The Adversary was manifest as Ham son of Noah and his personages: Yaghuth, Ya’uq, Nasr, Suwa’, and others whom we shall mention later, God willing. As for the Ark, in which whoever rode was saved: it is Knowledge, the knowledge of Oneness. Whoever recognizes it is saved and liberated by it, and whoever stays behind is drowned. His word—the Almighty: {And We certainly sent Noah to his people, and he remained among them a thousand years minus fifty years, and the flood seized them while they were wrongdoers}1. It appeared regarding this statement that it is an indication of the Hashemite Call, for it is the Mother of Calls; it is firm in the world until the established Hour, which is the Day of Disclosure.
One group said: The call of Noah—exalted be his glory—stood for this duration of a thousand years minus fifty years. Another aspect: it is an indication of the call of the Awaited Qa’im—exalted be his glory—which stays for a thousand years minus fifty years; likewise according to the People of Entrustment (al-Tafwid).
Shem son of Noah is the Mother of Good, and he is the Oneness of God; he recognized the Meaning in reality, thus he was named Shem (Sam). Among the personages of the Adversary at that time was Japheth son of Noah; he is the one who spat out2 the Truth and used to swim beside the Ark.
Lord Noah—exalted be his glory—said to him that which the Magnificent Quran spoke and informed of by His saying: {And it sailed with them through waves like mountains, and Noah called to his son who was apart [from them], "O my son, come aboard with us and be not with the disbelievers." He said, "I will take refuge on a mountain to protect me from the water."
