(360) It has been related: "Paradise is the Lord Mim, and the eight rivers are his manifestation through his Essential persons from Adam to Muhammad ibn al-Hasan the Awaited. The forbidden tree is the Adversary, the second accursed Iblis; its fruit is his knowledge and innovations, which the Informed One was forbidden from eating, hearing, or listening to."
Abu Mansur Inal the Turk, the son of Lord al-Khasibi, narrated to me, saying: I was with my Master and sheikh Abu Abd Allah al-Husayn ibn Hamdan al-Khasibi—may God illuminate his person—in the bath, and I asked him while serving him regarding Paradise?
He replied: "Paradise is the Mim. Whoever reaches his knowledge has inhabited Paradise {beneath which rivers flow}. The 'rivers' are the four persons: Fatir, al-Hasan, al-Husayn, and Muhsin. Whoever recognizes them in reality has reached the knowledge of the Lord of the worlds, the Worshipped Meaning, and becomes among those abiding therein forever. {God is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him. That is the great attainment.} This means that satisfaction, attainment, and eternity belong to him whom God favored with piety and who was patient through His trial; at that point, he becomes one of those God chose, selected, and with whom He is well-pleased."
The Name manifested as Enoch (Akhnukh)—who is Idris, the Hermes of Hermeses—while the Meaning was manifest as Jared (Yazd)—Glory be to Him who neither vanishes nor changes. He is an Exemplary Meaning as we explained previously. The Gate manifested as Yail ibn Fatin in his first appearance in humanity. The Adversary—may God curse him—was manifest as Nahor the Compeller and as Alaqim.
The Name—who is Idris, exalted be his glory—manifested what the People of the Outward related: that Idris asked God to cause him to die, so He caused him to die then revived him. He raised him to the heaven, where he crossed the Path (al-Sirat), entered Paradise, and looked upon the bliss God—the Mighty and Sublime—prepared therein after having entered the Fire and looked upon the painful torment He prepared.
