I have mentioned to you that the Name in the line of Prophecy is speaking, calling to the Meaning—Exalted—and pointing to Him; while in the line of the Imamate, the Name is silent and the Meaning is speaking to His Essence and declaring His Oneness. However, it is your path to know this and to recognize the speech of the Meaning, the Name, the Gate, and the Informed One (al-Munabba'), so that it does not become confusing to you. Everything you encounter in the Quran containing the word "I" (Ana): "That is from the speech of the Meaning—Exalted and Sublime—in which no other shares with Him. When you encounter 'We' (Nahnu), 'With us' (Ladayna), or 'Near us' (Indana)": that is from the speech of the Name—exalted be his glory. When you encounter "My Lord and your Lord" or "My God and your God" and similar phrases: that is from the speech of the Gate.
As for His word: {It is You we worship and You we ask for help. Guide us to the straight path}: this is from the speech of the Informed One, Zayd ibn Haritha. "{It is You}" falls as an indication to the Mim, while the intent of worship is for the Meaning.
(356) It is related from Muhammad ibn Ismail al-Hasani that he said: I felt a stirring in my soul regarding the saying of the Lord Mim—exalted be his glory: "The credit for the credit" (al-kali bi-al-kali). I went early to the door of our Master al-Hasan—exalted be his glory—having hidden a question regarding that.
I saw Ishaq al-Ahmar at my Master's door and said: "By God, I shall ask him about that." I said to him: "O my lord, O Abu Ya'qub, what is the meaning of the Messenger's saying—exalted be his glory: 'The credit for the credit'?" He replied: "It is a prohibition for you against usury and the increase in the measure you give compared to the measure you take." I said: "O my lord, this is its outward sense; what is its inward?"
