"Whoever claims for me what I have not said is quit of the monotheism of Ja'far, the High, the Most High."

At the time Abu al-Khattab made this proclamation, the Name—exalted be his glory—was manifest through him; the Meaning was the Master Ja'far—exalted be his glory—and the Gate was al-Mufaddal ibn Umar al-Ju'fi—peace be upon him.

You must know with certain knowledge and believe as the reality of the religion and the view of the preceding sheikhs—may God be pleased with them: that the manifestations of the Meaning—exalted be his glory—are all in Essence. Even if He appears in the likeness of the Name's form, the People of Reality know with certain knowledge that He only manifests in His own Essence, the One of vast knowledge (Anza' Batin). That [other appearance] was merely shaped in the eyes of the beholders according to the variation of their stations and degrees of knowledge mentioned previously, for the cause is in the observer, not the observed.

Knowledge of Connection (al-Ittisal): is the knowledge of the Meaning’s manifestation in the likeness of the Name's form.

Knowledge of Separation (al-Infisal): is the knowledge of the Meaning’s manifestation in Essence.

He—glory be to Him—neither transforms nor ceases from His being, even if He appears to the sight in every Cycle, manifestation, and turn; He only appears as the One of vast knowledge. He is the Manifest Truth who is distinct, manifest, witnessed, and seen.

(351) It is related from the Lord Salman—peace be upon him—that he entered one day upon the Lord Mim—exalted be his glory—who asked him: "How have you reached the morning, O Salman?" He replied: "O my Master, I have reached the morning as a true believer." The Mim asked: "And what is the reality of your faith?" Salman replied: "I have recognized the Separation from the Connection." He said to him: "You have recognized, so remain firm." These are what we have mentioned.
