They asked: "Perhaps you are the leader of this army?" He said: "I am he." They asked: "Were you the helper of the Messenger of God and his supporter?" He said: "I am he." One of them said: "As for me, I read in the Scrolls of Abraham: 'There shall come at the end of time a prophet called the Paraclete; he shall purify the earth of Shirk, break the idols, and demolish the statues. The Lord shall be in his army in the manner of his helper and the supporter of his religion.'"
Regarding this, a Knower says: You named him the remover of Ahmad's distress, and his savior with the sword from the depths.
Can anyone remove the great distress except the One who is glorified in the evenings and the mornings?
Concerning the meaning of the pre-eternity of the Name and its origination:
What was related by Abu al-Fath Muhammad ibn Muhammad al-Tabari—may God be pleased with him—who said: I asked my Master al-Jali—may God illuminate his person—regarding his statement that the Name—exalted be his glory—is ancient by the Light but originated by the Manifestation? He replied: It is related that the Ancient Meaning, the Pre-eternal—Exalted—was when there was no place. When He willed for the Place to be, He invented him from the light of His Essence and established him as a unitary luminous being. No third was with them for a duration that time cannot reach nor number count—a Unique One with the One. Then the Unique One, who is the Name, willed, and from his will came the Sin. The Sin looked before him, and from the light of his gaze shone the Greatest Orphan, al-Miqdad; he looked to his right, and from the light of his gaze shone Abu Dharr; he looked to his left, and from the light of his gaze shone Abd Allah ibn Rawaha; he looked behind him, and from the light of his gaze shone Uthman ibn Maz’un; and he looked beneath his feet, and from the light of his gaze shone Qanbar. This was by the command of the Greatest Veil, acting by the command of his Master and the power of his Meaning.
