Likewise, Moses—exalted be his glory—the chosen of God, His Interlocutor, and one of the messengers of constancy, confessed to his successor Joshua—exalted be his glory—that he was his guide and his Lord, who bestowed favors upon him and his brother and saved him. This occurred when his people said to him: {And when the two companies saw one another, the companions of Moses said, "Indeed, we are to be overtaken." [Moses] said, "No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me."}1 Thus, the Lord Joshua ibn Nun—exalted be his glory—saved them all and drowned the others.
Likewise, Solomon—exalted be his glory—with his successor Asaph ibn Berechiah—exalted be his glory—concerning what He manifested to him of His affair and revealed to him of His secret. He established the proof for him that He is his Powerful Lord and his God whose command is manifest, when He brought him the throne of Bilqis before Solomon's glance could return to him, as God—the Mighty and Sublime—clarified in the precise Quran: {Said he who had knowledge from the Book, "I will bring it to you before your glance returns to you." And when [Solomon] saw it placed before him, he said, "This is from the favor of my Lord to test me whether I will be grateful or ungrateful. And whoever is grateful—his gratitude is only for [the benefit of] himself. And whoever is ungrateful—then my Lord is Self-Sufficient and Generous."}2
Solomon—who is the Supreme Name—declared the hidden matter, revealing and clarifying the known truth, affirming Lordship for his successor and confessing servitude to him.
