Those of intellect and understanding have known that the Lord of mankind is the Supreme Name and the Ancient Veil. Concerning this sense, there is a report:
(304) Which was narrated to me by Abu al-Hassan Ra’iq bin al-Khidr al-Ghassani, known as al-Muhalheli—may God be pleased with him—from his sheikh Abu al-Hassan Ali ibn Muhammad al-Attar al-Kufi, from his men, from Abu Ja’far Muhammad ibn Ya’qub al-Kulayni, who related it from several of his men, from Ahmad ibn Khalid, from his father, from al-Nasr ibn Suwayd, from Yahya ibn Abd Allah al-Bajali, from Abd Allah ibn Muskan, from Humran ibn A’yan—peace be upon him—who said: I heard our Master al-Sadiq—exalted be his glory—saying: "God is a creation among His creation, and His creation is a creation from Him. Everything upon which a name falls is created, except for the Meaning—exalted be his glory. God is the Creator of all things; blessed is He, there is nothing like unto Him."
Since the Meaning—glory be to Him—is the Creator of the creator of things (who is the Supreme Name, exalted be his glory), as clarified by our lord Humran ibn A’yan from our Master al-Sadiq—exalted be his glory—then this Majestic Name, the Creator, is a name unlike originated names and a thing unlike created things. For our saying "God" (Allah) is an accident (arad), and one does not worship an accident, as an accident does not subsist by itself. That which does not subsist by itself cannot have its existence established because it has no place in existence; that which has no place in existence is non-existent, and that which is non-existent cannot be a name for the Worshipped. Since the Pre-eternal Creator, the Cause of Causes, was manifest, seen, observed, transfigured, and witnessed by His creation—existing out of His compassion for them and as a kindness and blessing upon them—it was not permissible, for the establishment of His perfect proof, that His Noble Name and His Messenger (the Mighty, the Wise) be anything other than manifest and existing, calling to his Master and pointing to his Meaning, to complete the wisdom and establish justice within the nation.
