(282) I saw him emerging on the Day of Badr, neighing like a horse and saying: "A camel of two years, young in age, a Sim'am' of the night; it is for the likes of this that my mother bore me." He said: He did not return until his sword was dyed with blood.

(283) It was related by another chain that he used to distress them as a lion distresses them, saying: "War does not resent a steed like me, a Sim'am' of the night; as if I were a Jinni, it is for the likes of this that my mother bore me." His saying "a Sim'am' of the night, as if I were a Jinni" means: I roam the night. It is also said he intended by al-Sim'am' "the wolf." This is what we related regarding the Day of Badr from the People of the Outward.

(284) As for what we related from the Elite regarding the Day of Badr, it is what my sheikh—may God be pleased with him—narrated by his chain reaching Ammar ibn Yasir—peace be upon him—who said: The Messenger of God—exalted be his glory—said to his companions on the Day of Badr: "Indeed, your God has attended you this day; he wears a white woolen tunic without sleeves, head uncovered, fighting with you and granting you victory." Ammar—peace be upon him—said: I turned my gaze through the entire army, and none was of this description except our Master Amir Almuminin—exalted be His power. This is evidenced by the words of the Almighty: {And God has already given you victory at Badr while you were few. So fear God that you may be grateful}.1

(285) Among His names indicated by the Lord Mim—exalted be his glory—is: Faith (al-Iman). He clarified this by his statement on the Day of the Trench when our Master Amir Almuminin—exalted be his glory—emerged to face Amr ibn Abd Wudd al-Amiri: "Faith in its entirety has emerged to face Shirk in its entirety."
