A group said: "the Bald One of Quraysh" means: the King among them used to shave his head; thus their saying "the Bald One of Quraysh" means their King. Muhammad ibn Ishaq the Judge—may God have mercy on him—said the meaning of "the Bald One of Quraysh" is because on the day of war, the earth would be black with horsemen and footmen; when Amir Almuminin—exalted be his glory—emerged, the horsemen and footmen would clear away. The Arabs would say: "Why has the earth become bald?" It would be said: "The Bald One of Quraysh has emerged upon it."

the guided People of Reality said: He only manifested with baldness to show that nothing is above Him and that He is the goal of every goal. He manifested the Mim with abundant hair to show that another is above him, who is his Meaning and his Goal.

His mother named him: Haydara

The People of the Outward said: she only intended by this name to revive the name of her father, for she was Fatima bint Asad, and Haydara is one of the names for a lion (asad).

the guided People of Reality said: rather, He is the Life of the Abode (Hayat al-Dar)1, the Circling Living One (Hayy Da’ir)2, and the Luminous Living One (Hayy Durri)3, as God the Almighty said: {He is the Living; there is no deity except Him, so call upon Him, sincere to Him in religion. Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds.}4

His father named him: Zayd
