I asked my Master and sheikh Abu al-Fath Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-Baghdadi—may God be pleased with him—regarding the words of the Almighty concerning Lord Enoch (Idris): {And We raised him to a high place}1. He said: "I heard from my sheikhs—may God be pleased with them—reaching Lord al-Khasibi—may God ennoble his station: 'The Meaning removed Enoch and manifested in the likeness of his form.'"
Likewise, he related by this chain from him—may God ennoble his station—regarding the words of the Almighty to Abraham—exalted be his glory: {Indeed, I will make you an Imam for the people}2. This statement was after the Prophecy. He said: "This was the rank by which He favored him over the rank of Prophecy: that He manifested in the likeness of his form. He had been a Name, a Veil, a Messenger, and a Prophet; then he became an Imam and an Exemplary Meaning."
(271) My lord, the Sheikh Abu Abd Allah Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-Baladi—may God have mercy on him—narrated to me, saying: I asked Abu al-Qasim Ali ibn al-Husayn ibn Isa al-Nu'mani—may God be pleased with him—regarding the words of God the Almighty: {And when We assigned for Abraham the place of the House, [saying], "Do not associate anything with Me and purify My House for those who perform Tawaf and those who stand and those who bow and prostrate."}
He replied: I heard regarding this from the reliable sheikh Abu al-Husayn Muhammad ibn al-Ali al-Jali—may God sanctify his soul—by his narration from his sheikhs—may God have mercy on them—from al-Sadiq—exalted be his glory. He had been asked about this verse and said: "This is the speech of the Meaning to the Lord Mim—exalted be his glory—so that the Name might vanish and manifest through al-Hasan, becoming a Universal Mim, thereby necessitating the manifestation of the Meaning in his likeness. Thus, when the Lord Mim—exalted be his glory—vanished and manifested through al-Hasan, al-Hasan became a Universal Mim; the Meaning then removed him and manifested in the likeness of his form."
