As for the names of our Master—exalted be his glory—by which He is called during His manifestation in humanity, they are the seven Essential names we mentioned previously, which pertain to the visible person observed in human form: Abel, Seth, Joseph, Joshua, Asaph, Simon, and Ali, Amir Almuminin. These are the names of identification; it is not permissible to invoke any but Him by them, nor to entreat any but Him through them in intent and prayer.

As for His names—exalted be His praise—which He bestowed upon His Name and honored him with during the Exemplary Manifestations—the "Cycle of Relief" (al-Afraji) mentioned by our sheikh al-Khasibi in his epistle al-Siyaqa: the Meaning removed the Name and manifested in the likeness of his form. We shall explain what we know of this after completing this section, by the aid and success granted by God. These are the Exemplary Names, numbering fifty-four, from the Lord Enosh son of Seth son of Adam, to our Master the final al-Hasan al-Askari—exalted be his glory:

"Enosh, Kenan, Mahalalel, Jared, Enoch (Idris), Methuselah, Lamech, Noah, Shem, Arpachshad, Ya’rub, Hud, Salih, Luqman, Lot, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Elijah (Ilyas), Shuaib, Caleb, Ezekiel, Samuel, Saul (Talut), David, Job, Jonah, Isaiah, Elisha, al-Khidr, Zechariah, John (Yahya), Daniel, Alexander, Ardashir, Shapur, Lu’ayy, Murrah, Kilab, Qusay, Abd Manaf, Hashim, Abd al-Muttalib, al-Hasan, al-Husayn, Ali, Muhammad, Ja'far, Musa, Ali, Muhammad, Ali, and al-Hasan the Eleventh, the Master of the Army—exalted be their glory."

These names are the names of the Name—Mighty and Sublime—in which the Meaning honored him by removing him and manifesting in the likeness of his form in the stations of Prophecy, Messengership, and Imamate from the beginning of the human realm to the end of the Hasanid manifestation. These are the names used for the Name by the Meaning—Exalted and Sublime—in the manifestations. Similarly, the names of the Meaning—exalted be his glory—used for His Name in entreaties are more noble than the Essential names of the Name. For the latter represent the pure, hidden Mim where the Meaning did not remove him nor manifest in the likeness of his form; these are the nine names:
