(249) This is what was recorded in one report. In another report: He said to them: "Arise by the power of Him who says to a thing 'Be' and it is." The Jews arose living. Bilal said to them: "Did I not eat with you of the food I brought and drink of the drink?" They said: "Yes, you did." Bilal said to them: "The people of Medina claimed that the food I brought was poisoned and killed you." They said all together: "Neither food nor drink killed us; rather, we died at our appointed terms and the Angel of Death seized our souls. We have known that the religion of Muhammad is the truth and that he is the Messenger of God." Amir Almuminin—exalted be his glory—said to them: "Do you love death or life?" They said: "Rather, we love for you to keep us alive upon the knowledge of God the Almighty and the knowledge of His Messenger Muhammad—exalted be his glory—for you have revived us." Amir Almuminin said: "Rather, God revives you since you have chosen that." The Jews entered living to the Messenger of God and embraced Islam at his hand; their Islam was sincere. They remained in Medina alive, eating and drinking; they married and left descendants, and they were called in Medina "the children of the dead."

(250) It is related that our Master Amir Almuminin—exalted be his glory—advanced toward Sarsar al-Dubr, where Husayn ibn Numayr al-Sakuni had raided them and defeated them on a Friday while they were in prayer. He killed the Imam of its mosque and every last person found with him. Our Master Amir Almuminin passed by a man and said: "This is so-and-so, killed by so-and-so son of so-and-so." One of the hypocrites objected, saying: "Your saying 'this is so-and-so' is truthful, but who can prove to us that so-and-so killed him?" Our Master—exalted be his glory—kicked the man with his foot and said: "Arise and inform them who killed you." The man arose living and informed them of what our Master—exalted be his glory—had said. The objector said: "Pardon, O my Master." Our Master said to him: "Be gone, O dog," and the man became a dog. The people cried out at that, and our Master—exalted be his glory—departed immediately.
