He recited to me by his son Haydara—may God be pleased with him:
I bore witness that the God of mortals Is Ali, the Turner of what is in hearts.
God did not veil Himself from His creation, But they were veiled by sins.
Had they believed and been mindful, They would have been angels in the unseen,
Roaming in the kingdom of the heaven, Purified of all sins.
My sheikh—may God be pleased with him—narrated to me, saying: My father narrated to me from his father Abu Ishaq al-Rifa'i—may God be pleased with him—saying: Our sheikh and exemplar Abu Abd Allah al-Khasibi—may God sanctify his soul—said to us one day while we were in his presence among a group of his sons: "Everyone has worshipped an unseen they do not know and a Lord they do not prove, except us. For we worshipped the One whose speech we heard, whose punishment and torment He warned us of, and whose mercy He promised us. He said to us upon the pulpit of His majesty: 'I,' and none declares this but the Pre-eternal Meaning—exalted be His power. For this reason, we are named the Monotheists (al-Muwahhidah), because we worshipped the One we saw, who guided us to His knowledge, so we recognized Him and witnessed Him."
By our lord Abu al-Ghusn Juha—who is Thabit ibn al-Dukin, peace be upon him:
The ultimate goal of the seeker and the sought Is the love of Ali ibn Abi Talib.
