He is the Quest of all mortals—the Meaning (al-Ma‘nā), worshipped alone in the Hereafter and the First life. All besides Him, from His lights and His Beautiful Names, are but servants to Him. He who describes Him does not limit Him, and he who knows Him never loses Him. He reveals Himself to creation through the High Essence, and is seen and witnessed in the Anza‘ī Image (the image of the one void of polytheism) which He assumes among mankind to clarify the path for those who affirm Him and to establish the proof against those who deny Him.

Thus, what the intellects carry of Him is established according to the measure of their purity and subtlety. The ears hear from Him that which performs the essence of hearts, and the eyes gaze according to the measure of their capacity. Every being sees Him according to what they deserve of His vision and looks toward Him according to their station. Sanctified is He who never ceases to be in His true Being, even if He appears to the physical sight. That is because Allah is the Truth, and that which they invoke besides Him is falsehood, and because Allah is the High, the Great.

Happy is he who knew Him and affirmed, while he who denied Him and persisted in it is distant and wretched. For every person among them is their reward for what they put forward, and their recompense for what they previously sent forth and completed. I praise Him, believe in Him, and rely upon Him. I bear witness that there is no god but He—a High, Creating, and Singular God.

I bear witness that Muḥammad is His Name, the Caller to Him, whom He invented from the light of His own Essence, making him manifest. He named him "Allah" when He addressed him and communed with him. If a Gnostic calls upon Him by that Name, He answers what was asked; for he is His Eternal Veil (Ḥijāb) whom He honored and brought near. He is His Ancient House; whoever seeks it and turns toward it, He saves. He is His Servant whom He sent and chose, His Prophet whom He distinguished and selected. He is the Most Majestic and Supreme Example, and the Soul (al-Nafs) by which He warned all mortals. He is the primordial nature (al-Fiṭra) upon which He fashioned the creatures, the Power to which He summoned the servants, the Perfect and Manifest Wisdom, and the Will (al-Mashī’a) that originated all things.
