My Master said: "Exalted and Majestic is My affair! This is God whom I created with My hand and to whom I entrusted My command. This is the Creator by My permission and the Disposer by My command. I conceal1 Myself and I conceal him with Me; I flow and I make him flow by My power. My creation is never devoid of him, and nothing in My heaven or My earth is hidden from him. Had he thought in himself other than what I said, I would have punished him with My fire. Whoever recognizes him and recognizes his station from Me, I shall admit him into My Paradise."

(233) By the same chain of transmission from Muhammad ibn Sinan, from Bashshar al-Sha'iri—peace be upon them both—who said: I was with Abu al-Khattab Muhammad ibn Ismail—peace be upon him—among a group of our brothers when a man entered. Abu al-Khattab said to him: "Behold, whoever seeks God!" The man replied: "You are God, the Originator of things and their Renewer." He said: "That is Muhammad ibn Abd Allah, the One unique in Eternal Unity without becoming, the one invoked by Lordship."

(234) From Yunus ibn Zabyan—peace be upon him—from al-Mufaddal ibn Umar—peace be upon him—who said: When my lord Abu Abd Allah al-Sadiq—exalted be his glory—overlooked Mecca, he looked at the people circumambulating the House and heard their clamor, then said: "No idol remains worshipped upon this earth except this House."

(235) By this chain of transmission from Yunus ibn Zabyan—peace be upon him—who said: I asked al-Sadiq—exalted be his glory—regarding the Messenger of God—exalted be his glory—breaking the idols and stones, yet he ordered the people to circumambulate the House—which is of stone—and to pray toward it? My Master—exalted be his glory—said to me: "Go to al-Mufaddal, he shall inform you." I came to al-Mufaddal—peace be upon him—and asked him about that. He said: "Did my Master not answer you?" I replied: "He merely directed me to you, and I have come to you."
