He signed upon its back: "(How) [Kayfa]" and sent it back to them. When they looked at "How," they did not understand its meaning, so they came to Muhammad ibn Jundab—peace be upon him—gave him the note, and asked him about its content. He said to them: "Count the number of the letters." They said: "They are three." He said: "Do you not know that 'Ali' consists of three letters?" They said: "Yes." He said: "Likewise, 'How' [Kayfa] consists of three letters; therefore, worship is for Ali."
Another aspect: "How" (Kayfa) in the Great Abjad calculation equals one hundred and ten, just as "Ali" equals one hundred and ten. In the Small Abjad, it is twenty-six, and Kayfa is likewise by reduction, just as they are both by the reduction of nine.
(218) The Sheikh Abu al-Hassan Ali ibn Isa al-Jisri al-Kittani—may God sanctify his soul—narrated to me, saying: My sheikh, the Lord Abu Abd Allah al-Husayn ibn Hamdan al-Khasibi—may God ennoble his station—narrated to me, saying: Muhammad ibn Ismail al-Hasani narrated to me, saying: We were one day in the presence of our lord Abu Shu'ayb Muhammad ibn Nusayr al-Numayri—peace be upon him—while he was instructing us. Among what I memorized from him was his saying: "Ali is the Worshipped Meaning—exalted be His bounties and sanctified be His names—the God of gods, Lord of lords, the goal of every goal, and the end of every finality." He related that the Lord Sin—peace be upon him—met the Lord Mim—exalted be his glory—in one of the streets of Medina and prostrated to him. It was said to him: "O Salman, do you prostrate to Muhammad?" He replied: "I prostrated to the Light between his eyes, for that is the sought-after goal." Someone present said: "O our lord, O Gate of God and our Judge, explain this passage for us." He replied: The Messenger of God—exalted be his glory—said: "Ali is a light between my eyes." Thus, Salman's prostration was to the Light between his eyes, which is the Worshipped Meaning. Then our lord Abu Shu'ayb—peace be upon him—said: "Whoever worships other than the Ain has erred, for the Mim is a place for Him."
