These seven manifestations we explained are those in which our Master—exalted be his glory—manifested in Essence, from the Adamite Station to the end of the Muhammadan Manifestation. They are: Abel, Seth, Joseph, Asaph, Joshua, Simon, and Ali, the Prince of Bees—Mighty and Sublime. Our Master manifested the Occultation through the hand of the close, tested Saint, Abd al-Rahman ibn Muljam—peace be upon him—and we shall provide his praise in the appropriate place. All these manifestations are Essential and Unitary, in which Amir Almuminin—exalted be his glory—manifested as the One of vast knowledge. He is the Manifest Truth, the Essence of Certainty, God of the worlds—glory be to Him and Exalted is He far above what they associate with Him. Through these manifestations, the People of Knowledge among the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth recognized Him in ages and eras past.

Then He manifested through others in the past, and through them He shall manifest on the Day of Resurrection and Reckoning. Exalted is our Master, the Pre-eternal and Ancient, to whom alone belongs praise and to none other belongs glory. He rose above the heights without separation, drew near without being observed, and remained hidden without intermingling. He is neither perceived, nor limited, nor described. He is not localized by "where," nor found by "place," nor joined by "withness." He possesses all things, yet they do not possess Him; He has power over them, yet they have no power over Him; He encompasses them, yet they do not encompass Him. None knows Him except those whom He has singled out for His knowledge and favored among the people of His obedience. He is not from a thing, nor in a thing, nor upon a thing. Whoever says He is from a thing makes Him originated; whoever says He is in a thing makes Him confined; whoever says He is upon a thing makes Him carried. Rather, He is as He stated upon the pulpits of His majesty: He is the Creator of things before they existed, without any guide directing Him to their specific attributes, nor any predecessor preceding His primacy. He established them by His intent and originated them by His will; they are gathered within His grasp until the Day of Resurrection.
