My eye wept, and its weeping is justified, The tears of the eye are pouring and shedding.
And the accursed Iblis is an enemy to us, Stoned; if only he would die, we might find rest.
Iblis answered him:
You wail over the lands and their inhabitants, Yet in Paradise, the vastness became narrow for you.
You were there with your spouse in bliss Beyond this world, and your heart was at ease.
My schemes and my cunning did not cease Until you lost that profitable price.
It has been related that Adam—exalted be his glory—said: "There is no intimacy left among people." Iblis replied: "Nor is there a free one among the Jinn." Adam said: "The heat of the two groups has passed." Iblis said: "Then the taste of life is bitter." In another manuscript, Iblis answered him:
No free one remains in intimacy, Nor is there a free one among the Jinn.
The heat of the two groups has passed, So the taste of life is bitter.
You have known, my lord—may God grant you success—that Adam is the Mim, the Great Name and the Noble Veil who created the Kingdom in its entirety, and it is gathered within his grasp. Could anything be hidden from him in the heavens and the earth when everything returns to him and its keys are in his hand? Was what Cain did hidden from him such that he asked him to show him the place of the grave?
Glory be to Him from whom nothing is hidden in the earth or in the heaven, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing. However, since our Master Abel—exalted be His power—manifested incapacity and appeared as a dead man cast before Cain, it was necessary for His Supreme Name to also manifest incapacity.
