Through another path reaching Abu Abd al-Rahman, from his sheikh, from our Master Abu Ja'far al-Baqir—exalted be his glory—he said: "When Seth, the Gift of God—exalted be his glory—was born to the Name (al-Ism), he said: 'O Lord, shall I marry Seth?' God, the Sublime and Exalted, sent down to him from Paradise a houri named Nazila, marrying her to Seth. Glory be to Him who is transcendent beyond spouses or children. She bore him four sons, so Adam said: 'O Lord, shall I marry the children of Seth?' God the Almighty commanded him to propose to a man from the Jinn on an island among the islands of the sea who had four daughters. He married his sons to the daughters of the Jinni, who then bore children. Subsequently, these were married to their cousins. Thus, whatever exists of dignity, serenity, deliberation, and forbearance is from Adam; whatever exists of audacity, haste, ugliness, and deviance is from the Jinn." I said to Abu Ja'far—exalted be his glory: "O my lord, people say that Adam—exalted be his glory—would have a male and a female born in a single womb, then marry the male to the sister from another womb." Our Master al-Baqir—exalted be his glory—replied: "Glory be to God! This is Magianism itself. By God, He never permitted this."
As for what we have related from the People of the Outward (al-Zahir) by consensus through successive reports: God the Sublime sent Adam down in India, Eve in Jeddah, the Serpent in Isfahan, and Iblis in Baysan. Adam remained in India for a hundred years weeping over his sin. When God relented toward him, he and Eve met at Arafat and recognized one another; thus it was named Arafat because they gained knowledge of each other there. He joined her at al-Muzdalifa, where she conceived Cain and his sister 'Anaq, then after them, Abel. This is because they had no children in Paradise, evidenced by the words of Him whose mention is exalted: {So he misled them with delusion. And when they tasted of the tree, their private parts became apparent to them, and they began to fasten together over themselves from the leaves of Paradise. And their Lord called to them, "Did I not forbid you from that tree and tell you that Satan is to you a clear enemy?"}1
