The bringers of laws among them (peace be upon them) are the Imams for the nation, and our Master the Amir of the Bees is the Imam of the Imams, just as it is said: "The God of gods," for he is their Goal and their Worshipped One. He is the Goal of goals and the End of ends, the one outside of attributes, descriptions, and indications. When the Oneness proclaimed by the Messengers, the Gates (al-Abwab), the people of ranks, and the causes (al-Asbab)—who are the callers of creation to the Truth—reaches its end, as the Lord Messenger (Mighty is His Might) said: {He is the Ever-Living; there is no god except Him, so call upon Him, purifying the religion for Him. Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds}. And the Mighty and Majestic said: {That is because God is the Truth, and that what they call upon other than Him is falsehood}.
(195) Then he declared explicitly, saying (Mighty is His Might): "Whoever desires the Truth, let him look toward Ali; Ali is the Truth wherever he may be."
(196) Then he acknowledged servitude to him, saying: "Ali is to me as my button is to my shirt."
He intended by this that he is the owner of my neck (my master). There must be indications from the Prophets and the bringers of laws toward a manifest, existing Worshipped One whom the people of the Call see and recognize just as they recognize their own sons and themselves. If there were not a manifest, existing one whom the people of the Call see, there would be no Worshipped One. We have explained from the testimonies regarding this that which contains sufficiency and richness for him whose heart's lock God has opened and whose senses He has purified with the clarity of his mind.
(197) Our Master, the Sage—exalted be his glory—was asked regarding the word of God, the Mighty and Sublime: {Say: “With God is the conclusive argument; had He willed, He would have guided you all.”}1 He replied: "By God, it comes to the scholar, who recognizes it through his knowledge, just as it comes to the ignorant, who rejects it through his ignorance. Truly, the upright, fortunate one is he who repents, desists, then restrains the soul from whims."
