He has no partner, no likeness, no helper, and no supporter. He has no resemblance and no parallel. He is the First without example or beginning, and the Last without finitude, cessation, or end. He is the Manifest through the signs, the Hidden by what is within all beings. Lo, Ali is God: {God—there is no god except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great}. Lo, Ali—in his hand is all goodness, and he is over all things competent. Lo, Ali sees you as forms and various species. Lo, Ali created and fashioned them. No one can endure seeing him, and no one can remain standing upon seeing him." Then he [Muhammad] turned while our Master Amir Almuminin, Mighty is His Might, was sitting at his right, and said to him: "I ask you by the Might of Your Might."
And in a narration also: "And the Might of Your Majesty, Your Pride, and the greatness of Your Kingdom and Your Divinity (Lahut)." The Lord Muhammad, Mighty is His Might, had not yet finished his words before our Master the Amir of the Bees, Majestic is His Majesty, hidden his person. There shone for us a great light whose essence cannot be encompassed and whose end cannot be perceived. We were seized by a faintness from the intensity of its light; it was as if we were seeing him in a dream. Had it been by the vision of the eyes, they would have perished and the intellects would have been bewildered. Lo, a slumber of sleep fell upon us and the faintness astonished us, so we began saying: "Glory be to You! How great is Your state! We believe in You and testify to Your Messengers." There was none among us but was prostrate, seeing the dream from the awe and fear that fell upon us. Trembling seized us and our spirits departed until we became like the dead, not comprehending but rather dreaming and seeing as a sleeper sees, our spirits having left our bodies until an hour of the day passed.
