Truly, Ali possesses the keys to the heavens and the earth; he spreads sustenance for whom he wills, and he is Knowing of all things. Truly, Ali—visions do not perceive him, but he perceives all visions, and he is the Subtle, the Acquainted. Truly, Ali is the taker of souls, and to him all matters return. Truly, the believer is the one who believes in him and accepts his guardianship. Truly, the Muslim is the one who submits to him in reality through recognizing him. Truly, the witness is the one who bears witness to his Lordship. Truly, for him whom Ali’s mercy reaches, he has attained a great success. Truly, the forgiven one is he whom Ali has forgiven. Truly, your return is to him, so believe in him and obey him; that is better for you if you only knew. Truly, there is no escape from him except to him, so hasten to his obedience and do not oppose him or disobey him in what he has commanded you."
And by his narration: "And do not die except while you are Muslims. Avoid within it the speaking of falsehood; hold fast to him and do not lag behind him. Lo, know that he is your Imam: he is behind you, he is on your right and on your left, and he is above you. Lo, he encompasses you; he knows your consciences, your secrets, and what your chests conceal."
And by his narration: "We have made clear the signs for you if you would understand. Lo, Ali created you, fashioned you, gave you life, and causes you to die; then to him you shall be returned. Lo, he is your witness, your resurrector, your sender, your gatherer, and the one who questions you regarding what you used to do. Lo, Ali is not limited, nor described, nor characterized. He did not beget, nor was he begotten, and there has never been any peer to him. He did not take a companion nor a child; he had no partner in the kingdom, nor did he have a protector from humiliation. Magnify him with a great magnification.
