Our Master Salman said: I said to myself, "I have missed the benefit from the Messenger of God, Mighty is His Might." He knew this of me, and after placing his hand upon mine, he said to me: "O Salman, recite Surah al-Fil (The Elephant)." I recited it until the saying of the Almighty: {And He made them like eaten straw}. I paused, and he said to me: "Say, O Salman: 'I have a God among the Quraysh, a God among them [for] the journey of winter and summer...'" [Surah Quraysh].

Salman said: I recited that to its end. He said to me: "O Salman, it and [Surah] al-Fil are one single Surah; so know that and do not separate them. Know that if you recite it, it is as if you have recited the entire Quran, and you have attained the reward I mentioned to you, which is for one who recites the entire Quran." Salman said: "Hearing and obedience to you, O Messenger of God, and thanks for your favor, O my master."

(168) By this same chain of transmission from our Master Salman, peace be upon him, who said: The Messenger of God, Mighty is His Might, said during the Farewell Pilgrimage: "Your God has appeared in this season of yours upon a dusky camel, wrapped in a Qatwani cloak, with a purple velvet saddlecloth beneath him." Our Master Salman, peace be upon him, said: So I diligently sought the one described by this description, and I did not see in the entire place anyone on a dusky camel, wrapped in a Qatwani cloak with a purple velvet saddlecloth beneath him, other than our Master Amir Almuminin, Mighty is His Might.

(169) And from my master and sheikh—may God brighten his face—by his chain of transmission traced back to Ammar ibn Yasir, peace be upon him, who said: The Messenger of God, Mighty is His Might, said one day to his companions on the Day of Badr: "Your God has appeared this day wearing a white wool tunic without sleeves, his head uncovered, fighting with you and aiding you." Ammar ibn Yasir, peace be upon him, said: So I observed the entire gathering, and there was no one in the ranks wearing a white wool tunic without sleeves with an uncovered head other than our Master, Mighty is His Might.
