(165) And from him, he said: Abu al-Khattab Abd al-Quddus ibn Ali narrated to me: Abu Ali ibn Ali narrated to me: Abu al-Sahl Muhammad ibn Abdun narrated to me: Ali ibn al-Hasan ibn Ma'dan narrated to me from Isma'il ibn Asad al-Basasiri from Ruh ibn Ubada from Hisham ibn Ubada from al-Mubarak ibn al-Manhal from Abu al-Haytham Malik ibn al-Tayyihan, peace be upon him, who said: I saw the Messenger of God, Mighty is His Might, making Amir Almuminin, Mighty is His Might, memorize the Surah {Has there [not] come...} [Surah al-Insan]. I said to him: "O my master, O Messenger of God, are you not its companion and you are the one who taught it to us?" He replied: "And indeed, you receive the Quran from the presence of One Wise and Knowing."

(166) It is narrated from the Lord Muhammad, Mighty is His Might, that he heard a man saying: "O Most Merciful of the merciful." The Prophet took the man by his shoulders and said to him: "This is the Most Merciful of the merciful; he has faced you with his countenance, so ask him for your need." The narrator said: The man looked and behold, it was our Master Amir Almuminin, Mighty is His Might. He said: "Is he He?" Our Master Muhammad, Mighty is His Might, said: "Yes, he is He."

(167) My sheikh and master Abu al-Fath Muhammad ibn al-Hasan—may God brighten his face—narrated: My sheikh Abu al-Hasan al-Maqari narrated to me by his chain to Zadan, peace be upon him, the protégé of Salman, from our Master Salman, peace be upon him, who said: I entered upon the Lord Muhammad, Mighty is His Might, while he was in the mosque. I greeted him, he returned the greeting and commanded me to sit. I sat for a short while, then he said to me: "O Salman, shall I not teach you a Surah, the recitation of which is like your recitation of the entire Quran?" I said: "O my master and lord, the favor is yours." He paused for an hour, then rose to leave the mosque.
