Jabir said: He continued speaking and describing conditions while the skull stood upright upon the windpipe as if facing us, until his speech ended. Then my Master said to him: "Fall into Saqar (Hell) until the Day of Gathering." It fell on its face and began rolling back toward the direction from which it came until it disappeared in one of the corners of the Arch.
Then a group of the army arrived toward us to see the greatness of the Arch. When our Master Amir Almuminin, Mighty is His Might, sensed them, he folded his legs upon the hump of the mule, proclaimed "God is Greatest" three times, announced the Oneness of God, and recited the saying of the Glorified: {So those are their houses, empty because they were unjust}. And the saying of the Almighty: {Indeed, the earth belongs to God. He causes to inherit it whom He wills of His servants. And the [best] outcome is for the righteous}.
Then he faced the Qibla and prayed two cycles (rak'ahs), and I prayed with his prayer. The multitude arrived and prayed as we prayed, and announced the Oneness as we announced. He marked out a mosque in the Arch at the place where he prayed. He traveled from that place about the distance of a call, then returned and went down toward the Tigris. He established the prayer, praying Dhuhr and Asr, and designated a place of prayer there. He mounted his mule, and I rode with him until he reached the Tigris. He stood over it and said: "O Jabir, this is a place where the companions of Umar crossed when they conquered this city, and truly, crossing here is forbidden for the believers. Command the people to march to where I am heading." I said: "Amir Almuminin is marching, so march where he intends." They marched while he was before them, until he reached a river that flows into the Tigris. He encamped there, and I encamped with him, as the time for the Isha prayer had arrived.
